Blackened by Time – a poem

Eyes deadened like coals burned low,

In piles of bare tinder smouldering down,

Glow with older than aeons left sparks

Drawn from worlds where the fire dreams.

*

Awaken it forever from the darkly drawn void

For the same as ever tired refrain, come again

As dawn upon soot and storm streaked peaks

To reveal their lack of lustre, their tawdry nature.
