Expired Safety Measures – a poem

Fail-safes put in place to guard hamper

In manners little understood, unseen

Forces of driving pressure, push, pull

Along invisible lines that govern us

As we step closer to a chosen sun.

They helped in days past when tried

Were we by circumstances close and hot,

Stuffy and oppressive for trial travails

That tested us, leaving us empty shells

Filled with hell’s bad intended airs.
